Playmates to Premiere New Family Guy Toys This Fall

This fall, Playmates Toys, as part of its partnership with Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, will premiere a fresh new toy line for Family Guy. The line will launch with the Family Guy Crazy Interactive World play set and figures. Each figure in the Family Guy Interactive World features a resistor that, when placed on the compatible play set, unlocks real character voices and more than 40 phrases from the show.
The initial figures will include Stewie, Peter, Brian, Cleveland, Quagmire, and Lois with additional characters and environments coming next spring. Also available from Playmates Toys in the fall will be a seven-inch soft foam Stewie head-shaped football.
The release of the Playmates Family Guy toy line joins Fox’s yearlong “Something, Something, Something Anniversary” celebration for the series.

Rio Toys, Books, a Video Game, and More to Hit Stores This Spring

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has announced its initial line up of products based on the upcoming 3-D animated comedy adventure film, Rio. The merchandising program will include a range of toys, video games, apparel, and books, and will kick-off in mid-March before the theatrical release of the film on April 15.
The ToyQuest Rio toy line will include a colorful selection of 3.75-inch mini figures, 8-inch basic plush, and 10-inch talking plush and beanies. Signature items will include a 9-inch interactive plush and a 7-inch walking and talking plush. The line will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores and Toysrus.com.
THQ’s Rio video game will be available at Toys “R” Us and other retailers just days before the movie’s release. The party-style video game contains 40 mini-games and features the movie’s characters.

Konami’s Karaoke Revolution Glee to be Released November 9

Konami has officially announced that Karaoke Revolution Glee, based on the hit Fox series, will be available at retail stores nationwide on November 9 for the Nintendo Wii. The game, licensed through Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products, includes some of the most well-known songs and performances from Glee’s season one.

Fox to Expand Avatar Product Lineup Following Film’s Success

Following the success of James Cameron’s Avatar, Fox Consumer Products plans to expand its merchandising opportunities for the franchise.
With more than 125 licensed products manufactured during the film’s release in four main categories (video games, publishing, toys, and apparel), Fox hopes to expand the number in the fall with back-to-school and other seasonal products. Fox also plans on expanding the Avatar brand to encompass bedding, board games, social expressions, and costumes. Current partners include Rubie’s, Abrams, MEGA Brands, JLA Home, and Trends International.
Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time, with approximately $2.7 billion in worldwide ticket sales, and is also the best-selling DVD and Blu-ray with around 20 million copies purchased in the first three weeks. Its retail sales total approximately $153 million.

Fox Expands Breadth of Family Film Franchises

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has announced plans to create worldwide, long-term brands out of Ice Age, Alvin and the Chipmunks, Diary of a Wimpy Kid, and Rio.
Ice Age Continental Drift 3-D is scheduled to hit theaters summer 2012, and Fox is planning consumer products based on the brand, including video games, stationery, and toys. Fox plans to release a style guide and new promotional concepts in the coming months.
Alvin and the Chipmunks Chipwrecked will also be in 3-D and is expected to release during 2011′s holiday season. Fox hopes to market the franchise as a year-round opportunity focusing on toys, stationery, interactive, and publishing. (more…)
