NickMom’s Slated List of Programming

At a press conference in New York City, Nickelodeon announced its slate of programming for NickMom, to premiere this fall on Nick Jr. Nickmom’s development slate includes a mix of talk shows, stand-up, sketch comedy, hidden camera, game shows, and more:

  • A hybrid sketch/talk series starring and executive produced by comedian and actress Caroline Rhea and Emily Cohen (Title TBD).
  • It’s Nighttime with Annabelle Gurwitch – A new breed of talk show that looks at the world through Gurwitch’s unique mom-colored glasses, executive produced by Gurwitch and Elyse Roth (former The Daily Show producer).

  • The 5th Hour – A scripted comedy show inspired by morning news shows and hosted by mom comics in the roles of the news team. Executive produced by Mad Cow Productions (Madeleine Smithberg, executive producer of The Daily Show with John Stewart), Sarah North, and Jordan Tilzer (Roar). (more…)

Nickelodeon Reveals NickMom TV Block at NYC Press Conference

Today at a press conference, Nickelodeon announced that General Mills, Target, and Reckitt Benckiser have signed on as charter sponsors for NickMom, Nickelodeon’s new multiplatform content destination that targets moms. The just-announced deals will include brand integration, content development, and sponsorships across the new NickMom TV block, launching this fall on Nick Jr. The deal also includes NickMom.com, which launched last year.

“With the creation of NickMom, we are offering a unique comedy and entertainment destination created just for today’s moms,” said Jim Perry, head of sales of Viacom’s Nickelodeon Group, in a press release. “Our partners clearly understand the value of moms and recognize our ability to serve moms with relevant entertainment across all platforms.”

The NickMom nightly television block will feature a mix of original long- and short-form humor-based programming, including talk shows, stand-up and sketch comedy, hidden camera television shows, and more. NickMom.com, a blog that debuted last November, currently features editorial franchises, photos, and video. Throughout this year, Nickelodeon expects the site to grow, complete with more editorial, photos, videos, gaming, and a community, becoming a fully integrated website timed to the TV launch.

Nick Toy Machines Featured in 100 Simon Malls

Nickelodeon debuted its first virtual Nick Toy Machines last weekend at 100 Simon malls across the country. Inspired by the classic vending machine, each virtual Nick Toy Machine is a colorful, double-sided standee (seven-foot tall and 3.5-feet wide) that shoppers can walk up to, scan, and buy Nickelodeon toys from via smartphones.

The Nick Toy Machine features images of Dora the Explorer and Victorious toys, along with a corresponding QR code that allows shoppers to quickly “scan and buy” gifts using their smartphones. The Nick Toy Machines are placed in high-traffic areas.

Playmates Appoints Distribution Partners for New TMNT Toy Line

Playmates Toys, Inc., has appointed marketing and distribution partners across a number of international markets for toys inspired by Nickelodeon’s all-new CG-animated Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Currently in production, the show is set to premiere next fall, followed by the theatrical release from Paramount Pictures. The all-new Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles toy line by Playmates is scheduled to launch next fall in the U.S. and Canada, to coincide with the series premiere. The line will be available in most international markets in 2013.

“Absorbent: A SpongeBob Exhibit” Set to Open in Moscow

SpongeBob SquarePants is headed to Moscow, announced Nickelodeon Russia, a unit of Viacom International Media Networks. “Absorbent: A SpongeBob Exhibit” is a modern art exhibition presented by Nickelodeon in partnership with Beeline. This exhibit will be free of charge for visitors, and will run September 16 through October 2 at the Flacon Design Plant in Moscow.

“Absorbent” is Russia’s first interactive SpongeBob exhibition. Visitors will experience how the Nickelodeon character has influenced fashion, culture, and modern media. In addition to the fashion and art installations, the exhibit will include a multimedia zone.

New Product: Team Umizoomi Preschool Math Kits

Team Umizoomi, the educational preschool show airing on Nickelodeon, is launching its first consumer product line, Team Umizoomi Preschool Math Kits. These new products help promote social and cognitive development in young children before they reach kindergarten.

The Math Kits will address the nine essential areas of math that preschoolers need to know: numbers, counting, patterns, shapes, measuring, positioning, sorting, classification, and reasoning. Each kit is based on one of three popular Team Umizoomi episodes and is equipped with a workbook, a storybook, an activity book, Math Mission Cards, and a Team Umizoomi episode on DVD.

The Team Umizoomi Preschool Math Kits will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores beginning July 1st. The kits can also be purchased online from Nickelodeon starting in mid-July.

Victorious Products to Launch at Walmart for Back-to-School

Nickelodeon is gearing up for the initial launch of its Victorious products, based on the network’s live-action comedy series. The Victorious product line will be available exclusively at most Walmart stores in the U.S. and Canada during a special back-to-school window from this July to September.

The product line will include more than 250 Victorious-themed products, including apparel, accessories, entertainment, and school supplies. Walmart will also carry the Victorious: Season One, Volume One DVD, beginning July 5, as well as the Victorious CD soundtrack and a special Nickelodeon CD featuring stars from the network’s popular shows. Both CDs will be released on August 2

Jakks Pacific Named Master Toy Licensee for Winx Club

Jakks Pacific, Inc. and Nickelodeon have struck a deal giving Jakks Pacific a multi-territory master toy license to manufacture, distribute, and market a line of toys and other products based on the animated action and fantasy series, Winx Club. The Winx Club product line by Jakks is scheduled to launch in fall 2012 to coincide with the premiere of the new CGI episodes of Winx Club. The product lineup will span multiple categories, including dolls, play sets, role play, dress-up, and Halloween costumes. The agreement is for the U.S., Canada, UK, Australia, New Zealand, Chile, Colombia, Ecuador, Mexico, Panama, Peru, and Venezuela.

Winx Club, a co-production by Rainbow S.p.A. and Nickelodeon, will begin airing on Nickelodeon later this month.

Big News From Nickelodeon Upfront

Nickelodeon announced several initiatives at its Upfront presentation, a star-studded affair at New York’s Lincoln Center today. The network will release 450 episodes of new animation programming over the next three years, with nearly 200 of those rolling out on Saturday mornings in 2012. Additionally, Nick announced a crossover TV movie between iCarly and Victorious, iParty with Victorious, slated for a June 10th airdate, and an addition of 125 episodes of the network’s top-rated preschool programs. Finally, Nick announced that it has added Friends and Yes, Dear to Nick at Nite’s lineup this September.

First-Ever Victorious Products Launch at Toy Fair

Nickelodeon Consumer Products announced its first toy lines for Victorious with products from master toy licensee Spin Master as well as Sakar International. The Victorious toy lineup, which debuted at Toy Fair, will feature fashion dolls, role play, play sets, and consumer electronics.

From Spin Master will come the Make it Shine Doll, Tori Doll, Victorious Locker Decorator, and Victorious Microphone, all to be released in October.

Beginning this fall, Sakar will ship more than 20 Victorious-branded electronics and computer accessories, including MP3/4 players, boom boxes, karaoke machines, text messengers, doorbell answering machines, digital cameras, and portable DVD players. Non-electronic merchandise, such as computer sleeves and gaming accessories, will also join the lineup.
