Chipmunks Franchise Increases Merchandising Program

Leading up to the holiday release of Alvin and the Chipmunks: Chipwrecked!, Fox Consumer Products and Bagdasarian Productions have enlisted a wide range of partners to fuel an increased merchandising program for the Chipmunks franchise. The new program aims to widen its consumer base to reach young girls with products based around The Chipettes, the fashionable female rock stars of the group.

Just Play, LLC will create basic feature and novelty plush items, with Vivid Imaginations as the UK distributor. Santa’s Best will produce a holiday merchandise line, and Gipsy will introduce a specialty plush line in France.

Majesco will once again spearhead the development of the video game based on the upcoming film. Ty will continue to produce a specialty toy line, and Build-A-Bear will re-offer its top-selling line of stuffable plush featuring Alvin and Brittany, as well as pre-stuffed plush of other main characters.

HarperCollins will rejoin the program with a wide variety of published products, including beginning readers, novelizations, sticker books, and storybooks. Bendon Publishing will publish a line of activity, board, and coloring books along with flashcards and workbooks. Editora Alstro Astral will introduce a book program in Brazil.

There will also be increased merchandising in food, apparel, and accessories products.

Fox Consumer Products UK Signs Glee Partners

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products UK has announced the first partnerships for its Glee licensing program. Fox Consumer Products has partnered with Konami Digital Entertainment for a new Nintendo Wii game, Karaoke Revolution Glee. In the video game, players sing alongside their favorite Glee characters and perform memorable scenes from season one.

Other new partners include GB Eye for a Glee-inspired range of postcards, posters, badges, and tattoo lines; Danila for calendars and diaries; Pyramid International for college stationery and bags; UK Greetings, Ltd. for a range of innovative greetings cards, gift wrap, and gift bags; Headline Publishing Group for a series of Glee novels and an official Glee annual; as well as new partners for mobile and computer accessories, gifts, health and beauty, bedding, confectionery, and apparel.

Fox Consumer Products Announces Glee Merchandising Program

Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products has announced the launch of a merchandising program for the Fox television series Glee. Merchandising plans have been announced for interactive products, apparel and accessories, publishing, electronics and games, and bedding and beauty.

Fox Consumer Products has partnered with Konami Digital Entertainment to produce Karaoke Revolution Glee, which will be release for the Wii this fall. “Gleeks” will be able to sing along with performances from the first season.

Little, Brown Books for Young Readers will release a series of Glee original novels, along with a deluxe gift book. C&D Visionary, Inc., will release stickers, patches, magnets, and temporary tattoos in the U.S. and Canada. Other licensees include Trends International, LLC for bookmarks and posters; P.C. Woo, Inc. for holiday gift sets; Sky High International for branded pens, planners, and other school supplies; and Hallmark for a line of greeting cards.

Twentieth Century Fox Restructures Licensing Division

Twentieth Century Fox Television has implemented a strategic restructuring of its licensing division intended to focus on long-term brand building and immediate growth of its international businesses. Under the newly created banner Fox Consumer Products, Executive Vice President Robert Marick has appointed a team of senior executives charged with strategically exploiting the company’s television and feature film properties through consumer products, retail partnerships, and licensing initiatives.

To head the Global Brand Management team, Marick has tapped Pam Kunick-Cohen as its new senior vice president. Her team is tasked to determine long-term franchise opportunities both domestically and globally.

In order to translate the lineup of television and film properties into new products, a new Senior Vice President of Global Creative has been named—riCardo crespo.

The newly designated Global Category Management team will include Gary Rosenfeld, senior vice president of new media, who will continue his role overseeing Fox’s portfolio of video game projects and managing the division’s games development staff. Lora Cohn will serve as vice president, toys & social expressions, while Virginia King is vice president, fashion & home.

As Fox Consumer Products sets its sights on expanding sales across the globe, Marick has developed teams to cover four distinct regions: North America, EMEA, Asia Pacific, and Latin America. This new approach is designed to strengthen operations in these regions and foster a deeper understanding of these individual marketplaces.

Each of the new members of the Fox Consumer Products team will be in attendance at Licensing Show.
