Candy Spelling’s Extensive Madame Alexander Doll Collection to be Auctioned

Earlier this year, Aaron and Candy Spelling’s chateau in the Holmsby Hills area of Los Angeles was sold, and on Sunday, November 20, Candy Spelling’s collection of Madame Alexander dolls will be auctioned at the Waldorf-Astoria Hotel in New York City.
Conducted by Theriault’s, the world’s largest auction house for antique dolls, toys, and teddy bears, the auction will feature 350 dolls, including the rare early portrait models Victorian Bride, Pink Champagne lady, and Deborah Ballerina, along with dolls from the biblical series, a number of Wendy models inspired by Gone with the Wind, dolls created exclusively by FAO Schwarz during the 1950s, and more.
The complete collection will be on exhibit at the Waldorf-Astoria on November 20 starting at 9 a.m., followed by the auction at 11 a.m. Both the viewing and auction are open to the public. On November 19, Madame Alexander and Theriault’s will host a gala reception allowing doll enthusiasts and collectors to meet Candy Spelling; Stuart Holbrook, president of Theriault’s; and Gale Jarvis, president of Alexander Doll Company.

Madame Alexander Launches New e-Commerce Website

Alexander Doll Company, Inc. has launched a new e-commerce website, madamealexander.com, for Madame Alexander doll collectors.
The site, which is categorized by collectible, play and baby doll, size and age range, and more, allows Madame Alexander fans to purchase the dolls from one central location. Special features include zooming and a 360-degree viewing capability for detailed close-ups of Madame Alexander dolls’ artistry and costumes.
The company’s authorized retailers are also participating in the e-commerce site as Madame Alexander/Shopatron fulfillment partners. Additionally, visitors can get an in-depth look into the history and features of the company.

Madame Alexander Doll Club Convention to be Held in St. Louis

The Madame Alexander Doll Club will hold its annual convention from June 23-26 in St. Louis, MO. The 2010 convention, themed “Meet Me in St. Louis,” will feature all of the traditional club convention activities and a special speech by Gale Jarvis, president of Alexander Doll Company, Inc. and St. Louis native. Jarvis will keep attendees up to date on news from the Madame Alexander doll world.
Convention guests will have the opportunity to attend seminars and workshops, participate in design competitions, enter to win Madame Alexander dolls, and attend the “Meet Me at the Fair” Cissette dinner. Other activities include an interactive display of five St. Louis landmarks, the Parade of Living Dolls, and a workshop for designing and creating doll clothes.

Madame Alexander Appointed as StinkyKids Manufacturer

Stone America Licensing has appointed Alexander Doll Company, the creator of Madame Alexander Dolls, as exclusive manufacturer for StinkyKids’ soft-bodied dolls.
StinkyKids are a group of 10 diverse “little stinKers” who learn to make right choices through mistakes. The children live by the motto, “Always Be A Leader Of Good.”
The property’s doll line launched in fourth quarter 2009 in Nordstrom stores, Nordstrom.com, and at FAO Schwarz New York. Madame Alexander plans to expand the program to additional specialty, mid-tier, and mass retailers for Christmas 2010.
Stone America is also in negotiations with publishers to produce the property’s first book.
