The Wish Factory Signs Deal with One Direction
The Wish Factory, Inc., has been named a license for boy band One Direction, through a strategic licensing agreement with Global Merchandising Services.
The Wish Factory will manufacture a broad offering of One Direction licensed novelties and accessories with initial rollout in September, all within an affordable price range. The licensing deal includes fashionable wristbands, 3D clip-ons, key chains, dog tags, and dioramas. The Wish Factory will also produce a collection of One Direction licensed products for its Pop Grrl brand, featuring trendy fashion accessories.
Power Rangers Franchise Celebrates 20th Anniversary
Fans of the Power Rangers franchise will join forces to celebrate as it approaches its 20th anniversary milestone, at the 4th annual Power Morphicon fan-run event at the Pasadena Convention Center in Pasadena, Calif.
From August 17 to 19, Saban Brands will pay tribute to 20 years of action, adventure, teamwork, humor, and heart with events, including special guest appearances by previous Power Rangers cast members, a Power Rangers Super Samurai cast signing, a Power Rangers flash mob, and big announcements.

The International Fair of Children and Infants, also known as the Kid’s Biz Fair, will be held from October 16 to 17 in Warsaw, Poland.

Jakks Pacific Teams Up with Action Sports Stars
Jakks Pacific, Inc., has signed an agreement with professional skateboarder Rob Dyrdek (pictured), freestyle motocross legend and NASCAR star Travis Pastrana, X-Games BMX freestyle gold medalist Scotty Cranmer, and Big Air/Mega Ramp up-and-comer Alex Sorgente to promote Jakks’ new Action Shot Camera System.
The Action Shot Camera System is a portable mini-camera designed to capture the first person point of view of all the spills and thrills of action- and adventure-seeking sports buffs. The Action Shot Camera System will be available at retailers nationwide this month.
The Action Shot Camera easily attaches to skateboards, bikes, or helmets with the secure mounting system and can record up to two minutes of athletic feats. An upgrade with more memory using a Micro SD memory card is sold separately. The footage can be uploaded to a computer through the built-in USB port and then shared with family and friends or uploaded to social media web sites. Bananagrams Revamps Games Based on Fan Input
Bananagrams, Inc., the creators of tile word games, recently offered its fans an opportunity to test and tweak two of its existing educational word games, Appletters and Pairs in Pears, based on their experiences. The improved games, available this holiday season, feature fan-inspired fun multiple levels of play and activities that grow along with children.
Appletters is a word construction game for ages 5 and up with multiple levels of play where players work together to create “word worms.” The game comes in a portable apple-shaped cloth pouch containing 110 letter tiles. Appletters develops spelling skills, enhances strategic thinking, encourages cooperation, promotes turn-taking, and improves concentration.
Pairs in Pears is a word construction game for ages 3 and up where players work to match patterns and pair words. The game comes in a pear-shaped cloth pouch, containing four full alphabet sets in four different suits. Tonner Doll Company to Release Collection Based on Marilyn Monroe
Tonner Doll Company will release a collection of 16-inch dolls based on Twentieth Century Fox’s Marilyn Monroe movies as part of its fall holiday line.
Tonner’s debut Marilyn doll was first revealed at the company’s 2012 May Collectors Convention, during a dinner event inspired by Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. The event centerpiece was a 22-inch Marilyn Monroe doll, called Diamonds, which featured Marilyn in her famous pink satin dress. The 16-inch event souvenir for each attendee was called Animal Magnetism, featuring Marilyn in another ensemble from Gentlemen Prefer Blondes: a black-on-black patterned dress with elegant side drapes, jacket, and rhinestone pin. Both dolls quickly sold out.
The entire collection of 16-inch Marilyn Monroe dolls from the Fox films, including Gentlemen Prefer Blondes and How to Marry a Millionaire, boasts a brand new Tonner doll body, the Starlet body, which consists of an ample Tyler bust line and a fuller hip. All dolls will feature Marilyn’s blonde hair, signature beauty mark, notable widow’s peak, and sultry eyes.
Puppy In My Pocket Now a Multi-Platform Video Game Adventure
Global video game publisher 505 Games and toymakers MEG and Giochi Preziosi have announced a new deal for multi-platform video games, which will feature the well-loved kids’ brand Puppy In My Pocket. The Italian and U.S. toy companies are producers, along with Mondo TV Spa, of the new animated television series Puppy In My Pocket: Adventures in Pocketville (known as Cuccioli Cerca Amici in Italy) airing worldwide on Cartoon Network.
The kids’ show will provide inspiration for a world of exciting adventures, and content for handheld platforms, as well as mobile games for iOS and Android. Games are slated to debut next year. Licensing Works! brokered the deal on behalf of MEG and Giochi Preziosi, while Creative Minx Marketing, Inc., licensing agent for 505 Games, managed negotiations on behalf of their client.
VTech to Offer Downloadable Nickelodeon Episodes on InnoTab
VTech Electronics North America, LLC, is partnering with Nickelodeon to bring a number of animated series to the InnoTab 2. Beginning in late August, episodes of Nickelodeon’s hit animated series including Dora the Explorer, SpongeBob SquarePants, and Bubble Guppies, will be available for download from VTech’s Learning Lodge Navigator.
The InnoTab 2 learning tablet gives kids ages 3 to 9 their own 5-inch touch-screen tablet with free onboard activities, and a new rotatable digital camera and video recorder. It also comes equipped with a tilt sensor, photo viewer, video player, MP3 music player, e-reader, art studio, microphone and more. The InnoTab 2 features 2GB of onboard memory and an expandable SD card slot for up to 32GB more storage capacity.
Nickelodeon videos will be sold individually and in bundles of three episodes. Starting in October, the videos will also be available for download on VTech’s original InnoTab. The InnoTab 2 hits store shelves in mid-August.
