Rokenbok Toy Company Debuts Children’s Series

Rokenbok Toy Company has debuted the first episode of its new children’s series. The new series offers kids a chance to connect with the company’s remote-controlled vehicles, figurines, and building toy pieces, and brings life and personality to iconic Rokenbok figurines.
The show is built around the Rokenbok Go Team, a group dedicated to helping when things go wrong. Every two weeks, an episode will be released on Rokenbok’s Video Center first, and then will be available for viewing later on Rokenbok’s YouTube channel.

The Wish Factory Named Toy Licensee for Singer Cody Simpson

The Wish Factory has been named toy licensee for the Cody Simpson brand through a strategic licensing agreement with Atlantic Records. Cody Simpson is an Australian-born singer and songwriter who recently released his EP Coast to Coast, featuring singles “On My Mind” and “Not Just You.” Simpson ranked No. 13 on Billboard’s 21 Under 21: Music’s Hottest Minors for 2011.
The Wish Factory’s deal covers dolls, figures, play sets, key chains, plush koalas, concert kits, play-dance mats, and guitars. The initial line of fashion dolls will be available exclusively at Toys “R” Us stores and online at Toysrus.com this holiday season. The line will expand to other mass-market retailers in the spring and next fall.

The Toy Book Takes A Look at PlayStation Vita

Today, The Toy Book had a chance to preview PlayStation’s holiday products, including the PlayStation Vita.
The new handheld gaming hardware has a five-inch OLED touch screen, dual analog sticks (for console-like control), front and rear cameras, and Wi-FI connectivity. Some of the most innovative features include the rear touch pad that allows for an updated gaming experience and the six motion sensors that enable the players to really emerge themselves in the game.
ModNation Racers was the game The Toy Book got to check out on the Vita. With the front and rear touch pads players can build their own tracks easily, just using their fingers. Players can also download, at any time, any PS3 user-generated creation, including more than two million Mods, Karts, and Tracks using the Wi-Fi available on the device.

Disney Announces Shake It Up Merchandising Program

Disney Consumer Products (DCP) will launch its first merchandising program for Disney Channel’s comedy series Shake It Up this August. New products will continue arriving in stores throughout the holiday season. The new merchandise program for tweens, based on the show, plays up the main characters’ dancing lifestyle and energy.
This October, a line of Shake It Up dolls, by Mattel, will join the Disney VIP Doll collection. The dolls in the collection, launching next month at Toys “R” Us and Walmart, are dressed in hip, urban-inspired fashions from Disney shows, and includes Hannah Montana, Alex Russo of Wizards of Waverly Place, and Sharpay from High School Musical and its spin-off Sharpay’s Fabulous Adventure. Each doll unlocks VIP access to www.disney.com/disneyvip, which will feature activities and exclusive content, to launch July 15.

Rio Video Game to Release April 12

THQ, Inc. and Twentieth Century Fox Consumer Products will release a fast-paced, party-style video game inspired by Fox’s upcoming animated 3-D movie Rio on April 12. The movie will debut in theaters on April 15.
The video game will be available on the Xbox 360 video game and entertainment system from Microsoft, PlayStation3 computer entertainment system, the Wii system, and the Nintendo DS family of hand-held systems.

ThunderCats at Toy Fair

Bandai holds the global master toy license for ThunderCats, and the company showcased its upcoming line of ThunderCats-licensed toys at Toy Fair last week. Bandai’s lineup, to launch this fall, will include detailed ThunderCats four-inch figures, the Deluxe ThunderTank vehicle and four-inch Snarf figure, the highly articulated ThunderCats eight-inch Classic Figures, and the ThunderCats Deluxe Sword of Omens. Check out the video above to view the products.
ThunderCats, a new animated television series from Warner. Bros. Animation (WBA) and Japanese animation studio Studio4°C, will air on Cartoon Network this year.

Green Lantern Toys Showcased at Toy Fair

Warner Bros. Consumer Products (WBCP) is gearing up for the June 17 release of Green Lantern with a worldwide licensing program led by DC Entertainment’s master toy licensee, Mattel.
The video above shows some of the company’s Green Lantern products showcased at Toy Fair. Mattel’s multi-category Green Lantern toy line will include basic and deluxe action figures, figure/vehicles, role-play, play sets, games, puzzles, and vehicles.
